The recommended dosage for Viagra (Sidenafil) is a maximum of one dose per day.  The usual recommended dose is 50 mg approximately 1 hour before sexual activity; however, it can be taken anywhere from 4 hours to 30 minutes prior to sexual activity.  Men will not get an erection simply by taking this drug.  Viagra (Sidenafil) helps a man with erectile dysfunction to get an erection only when sexually excited. This medication can be taken with or without food.
